Kabbalat Shabbat Service
Our regular Kabbalat Shabbat service takes place every Friday at 8:00 pm. The services are led by our Rabbi, using the Mishkan T’filah siddur. Vocals, guitar and/or piano adds a rich layer of Musical accompaniment to the prayers, in addition to the harmonies of the congregation.
Shabbat Morning Service
Shabbat morning services are led by our Rabbi and begin at 10:15 am. During the Torah service, congregants are invited to engage in a participatory Torah study, asking questions and discussing the parshah.
Family Shabbat Service
On the first Friday of each month, we host a family Shabbat service. We invite members to join us for a pizza party half an hour before the service begins. Our 30 minute-long family service, led by our Rabbi, is fun and interactive, and a great way to introduce children to the songs and structure of the Shabbat service.
Shabbat Shiraz and Musical Service
Every fourth Friday, we open a few bottles of wine alongside plates of cheese and crackers, and invite our members to join us for Shabbat Shiraz, prior to our Shabbat service, to visit and unwind at the end of the week. Our musical service, led by our Rabbi along with a number of our Temple musicians, introduces new music in combination with more traditional liturgy, for an uplifting and lively evening.
Our Shabbat Shiraz service is full of wonderful prayers and music, including this very popular take on Matisyahu’s “One Day” and Craig Taubman’s version of “Hashkiveinu.”
Chanting, the melodic and rhythmic repetition of a sacred phrase, is a way of transforming the words of the liturgy so that they become a path for shifting our consciousness to our own energy, and the energy of the group around us. The chant service is a meditative service, based in the practices of Rabbi Shefa Gold, focusing on a few different chants and full of music designed to engage both body and soul. The service is held monthly on Saturday mornings in the chapel.
A group of Temple members hold a Renewal service on the first Friday evening of each month in the small chapel. It is a passionate and informal gathering. We welcome you to bring your voices and instruments, and join us for poetry, blessings, and the songs of Leonard Cohen, Shefa Gold, David Taubman, Shlomo Carlebach and more.
